Coaching

“Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Do you need coaching?

If you feel like you need that little extra something to get you over the hump, I’d love to speak with you about how I may be able to help. Having a coach isn’t for everyone but from my own experience, it’s been tremendously valuable to keep me on track, motivated, and accountable.

I’d like to take my own ultra running experience, knowledge, and training to help get you across the finish line of your goal race.

What I provide.

PHONE & EMAIL CONSULTATION. I pride myself on being available to you, maybe not 24/7 but you can expect a pretty quick response. We’ll schedule occasional calls to keep updated and talk through how the program is going and will figure out where we need to adjust and adapt the training, as well as answering any questions you might have regarding your past, present, and future training.

TRAINING PROGRAMS. Just as every runner is different, all my programs will be tailored to fit you. After speaking with you and understanding your running history and goals, I’ll create a plan specific to your needs and take you through it step by step. Not only will I create the program but I’ll make sure you understand why the program is structured the way it is.

RACE PREP. I’ll help get you ready for your race and help you develop a plan to include logistics, crew, pacing, nutrition and all the things in between.

My coaching style.

I’m a pretty laid back individual, you won’t get a lot of screaming and yelling from me, but I will hold you accountable to your own goals! I can take the time to build a plan but it’s up to YOU to execute it. You will get out of your experience what you put into it. From my end, I can guarantee you 100% effort from me and I’ll do whatever I possibly can to help get you to your goal!

The name of the game in ultra running is the ability to adjust and adapt, which is exactly what we’ll do working together to ensure your fitness is where it needs to be as we work our way through the program.

You can expect a few things from me:
1. A training plan, specific to you, your goals, and your needs.
2. Communication – we can make adjustments along the way by talking about the things that are going well and the things that aren’t working.
3. Flexibility – issues will pop up throughout the training plan (same as in a race) so we’ll adjust and adapt the program as needed without sacrificing your fitness and ability to be fully prepared to toe the line.

From you, I’d expect the following:
1. Commitment.
2. Communication.

I won’t only focus on the running but will work with you on every aspect of your ultra journey. Including but not limited to pacing, nutrition, crew selection, logistics, and gear. Our plan will be comprehensive because I’ve run enough miles, trails, and ultras to know the best-laid plans don’t always work out so you’ll be ready to handle any situation that comes up on trail.

“If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”
